It’s time to take a sabbatical from the web for awhile. After 8 years of blogging, i truly am tired and over loaded on too many fronts. I’ve been seriously thinking of this and wanting to retreat for personal reasons since the end of last year, but needed to fulfill my obligations first. Time to regroup, assess what is important, play and develop new ideas and themes, serious studio work, or re-assess this artist thing–am i an artist, or just a creative person? I’m also finally allowing myself, giving myself permission to DO NOTHING if i feel like it.
The FrankenStitch classes end Feb 13th and Feb 27th. The occasional shop update will be posted, and possibly a new shop will be added. I will check emails. I may make the odd (more than normal) comment here or there. I’m still involved with Real Time, Live World groups but the blog is sleeping for awhile.
Thank you, my faithful readers. I’ll be back sometime.
Sheesh, listen to all the crickets now.

Oh, arlee! I will miss your voice in cyberspace, but I can understand completely. Do have a good rest/rethink/refresh/refocus/retreat so that you can return when the time is right. I do hope you’ll keep us posted about up-coming shows, though, as if I am in Calgary when you are exhibiting, I want to be sure to go.
Blessings!

Will miss you Arlee, I haven’t been keeping up to commenting but have certainly been looking and admiring all you do – can understand though, I felt the same way last year when the whole interwebby thing just got too much, you’ll enjoy just taking time out to work for yourself and not an audience. Arlee, I re-read my abrupt comment just now, and I want to clarify. I guess I was shocked – what would the Canadian blog world be without Arlee Barr?
Answer: boring.
But, on the other hand, I do understand.
Be well.
Fight the good fight.
And do your work.

I’m near tears.
Arlee I’m going to miss coming here and reading.
I know, I know. I’ve got to say that do what feels right and what’s good for you, but you’re one of the highlights of my reading day.
well whatever you’re doing you’re brilliant and know that you’re loved and missed and thought of often.
I’ve always considered myself quilt kindergarten and that you were like quilt college. I drop in daily to see not just how your mind works but your beautiful art and your friendship and comments have always inspired and encouraged me.
Stay strong and take care of yourself. I miss you!

I know we’ll all miss your blog posts. But I know that you’ll be there, somewhere in CreativeLand, cooking up some pot of gorgeousness and embroidering your heart out whether you report on it or not. May your wellspring be refreshed by the sun, walks by the Bow river and having lots of fun. Say hi to the Ospreys from me? Enjoy doing nothing. It really is wonderful. And so are you dear one. Love you always. Hugs xxxx
P.s. Of course you are an artist = creative person = you are one of the most inspiring people I know. No doubt.

Ach!! You will be missed. Your brand of irreverent humor is rare and I’ve really enjoyed it/you. Also, you push boundaries and are willing to put yourself out there… I can see why that would become tiresome, and I also see how your trusting yourself to pull away (for now, I hope) is completely in keeping with your courageous style. Best of luck and have fun discovering new shit!
