a little plant science geek colour notes

20 Aug

It’s too hot this week to do anything serious so i’m fiddling with little things. It may not all be completely scientifically accurate, but is as close as i can come without actual studying–thanks Google for sort of helping :)

Was surprised to see the uptake of tansy on the commercially dyed threads–the only one that didn’t really change was the bright green. All the whites are now varying shades of gold and yellow, hard to tell from the photo, but there is enough differentiation to be useful.

before tansy

after tansy, 24 hour soak

I know less than nothing about the great mysteries of dye, but have to say that I really like how the tansy changed the colours of the threads (esp. the pink).
